Bishop and knight mate
The hardest basic mate: drive the king to the bishop's corner.
Advanced · Advanced endgames · 1 steps. On Chess Castles, Chess Guru reads each step aloud in English, Hindi or Marathi while the moves play on the board, and you can practise any position against the engine.
Step 1
King, bishop and knight can mate, but only in a corner of the same colour as the bishop. Here the bishop is on dark squares, so the mate happens in a1 or h8. Push the king to the edge, then walk it along the edge to the right corner with your knight. It can take 30 moves: a real test!
